Sidney Cripps

Services for Sidney Cripps will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2012, at the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Reverend Daryl Hoychick, officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville. Visitation will be Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Hixson Brothers, Pineville, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Cripps, 84, of Pineville, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria, after a brief battle with cancer.

He was a member and deacon of Trinity Baptist Church in Pineville. Mr. Cripps was a founding member and long time music leader at Lakeside Baptist Church. He was a past member of the Lion's Club of Pineville.

After spending 25 years in the Auto Parts Industry, most of it as an outside salesman and representative. He spent the last 15 years of his working life as a bus driver for the Rapides Parish School Board.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was devoted to his family and church. His hobbies were gardening and caring for his land and yard.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mattie Jane Duckworth Cripps; parents, Edgar and Emma Dodge Cripps; brothers, Edgar Cripps, Jr., Willie Ray Cripps; sisters, Ruth Laborde, Mary Colson; brother-in-law, Hiram Laborde; nephew, Edgar Cripps, III.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Darrell Cripps and wife Karin; daughter, Linda Jane Klinegardner McLaughlin and husband Leonard; brother, Ira Cripps; brother-in-law, Cliff Colson, Jr.; grandchildren, Lloyd Sidney Bagwell, Rachel Cripps, Elyse Berg, Matthew Cripps, Jonathon Cripps, Ben Cripps, Katelyn Cripps; seven great grandchildren, and fifteen nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Lloyd Bagwell, Matthew Cripps, Ben Cripps, Johnathon Cripps, Ples Wayne Cripps, and Ronnie Cripps. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Trinity Baptist Church.
