Mr. Bass, was called home on Monday, August 29, 2016.

William was born to the union of William and Florence (Birch) Bass on February 28, 1943. Longtime friends knew William as "Jr." and to his children and grandkids, he was "Dawg".

William worked at the Calcasieu Paper Company in Elizabeth, LA, for over sixteen years, on the dredge in Corpus Christie, TX. and for Randy Martin Logging, from Mittie, LA.

William had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Many stories were told in the outdoor kitchen about the "big catch" or the "big kill" and many gravies were cooked by William. William's love for the outdoors included his yearly crops. Many hours were spent planting and nurturing his gardens. He always overplanted so he could share with the family and friends. William took extreme pride in his children and grandchildren. To each one, he gave, their own special nicknames. William was a hardworking father and husband with strong Christian values and loved the Lord. William was a loving and providing husband to Helen for over fifty-four years.

William was proceeded in death by his parents, and lifelong best friend and hunter, Gilbert Deshotel.

Left to cherish his memory is one sister, Lucy Goodwin of Hicks; his loving and devoted wife, Helen Thompson Bass, of Glenmora, LA; four sons, John Wesley Bass, Sr. (Jimmie), Floyd "Buddy" Bass and Michael Wade Bass, all of Glenmora, LA and John William Bass (Tara) of Oakdale, LA; one daughter, Angela Bass Stowe (Chuck) of Elizabeth, LA; four grandchildren, John Wesley Bass, Jr. (Rosa) of Sioux City, SD, Zachary Bass (Lacey) of Woodworth, LA, Jessica Bass of Hicks, LA and Danielle Bass Neely (James) of Little Rock, AR; eleven great grandchildren, Jacelyn Bass, Addilyn "Winkie" Bass, Carter Bass, Jackie Daniels, Jonathan Sumbler, Jacob "JJ" Bass, McKenzie "Scappy" Bass, Dakoda Bass, Rachel Neely, Addilyn Neely and S.J. McLintock.

Pallbearers honored to serve are: Blake Fontenot, Bryne Thompson, Carlos Nolen, Dave Mixon, Matthew Willis and Shirley Jo Coker

From what was posted, Mr. Bass must have been a wonderfully generous soul, a fine example of Proverbs 22:9. I looking forward to meeting him in paradise and discussing Bible truths together.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Junior. I have many fond memories of hunting and fishing with him when I was a teenager.
