Denise Olds Obituary
August 29, 1951 – November 8, 2025
Denise Cheryl Olds, 74, went forth to explore the great beyond on November 8th, 2025. She was born in San Mateo, California on August 29th, 1951 to Shirley Rolph and Charles Olds.
Denise graduated a year ahead of her 1969 class at Mountain View High School. In 1972, she was a pioneering woman in her field of study, earning a Bachelor's degree in mathematics and computer science from California Polytechnic State University.
Deni built her career as a computer programmer data analyst for Nevada County Information Systems from 1973 until 2006. During this time, she married and moved to Nevada City, California. In her retirement, Denise lived in Surprise, Arizona and Sun Valley, Nevada.
Deni's kindness and courage shined through her love for family, stained glass, reading, piano, puzzles, chocolate, travel, the color purple, genealogy, and science. The happiest summers of her childhood were spent picking blackberries, camping amongst daddy-long-legs, and hunting toads with a flashlight at her grandparent's Bar T Ranch in Chicago Park of Grass Valley, California.
Denise is survived by her daughter, Tamara Luckinbill and a grandchild, as well as younger siblings Karen, Kenneth, and Randall Olds, two step siblings, a long-lost half sister, nieces, and nephews.
Her last words were to enjoy life and have fun. Please make memorial contributions in her honor to an environmental organization of your choosing.
