Sharon Krause Obituary

Sharon Krause

April 30, 1941 – August 27, 2024

Sharon Neoma Krause passed away peacefully after a brief illness on August 27, 2024 in Olney, Maryland. She was born in Palo Alto and grew up in the Bay Area where she graduated from Fremont High School in Sunnyvale.

Sharon worked for Silicon Valley businesses including Kodak, Varian, and the Dysan Corporation. After moving her family to Nevada County in 1986, she worked for the media company Grass Valley Group until retiring in 2001.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and an active parent-volunteer at Lyman Gilmore Middle School and Nevada Union High School. She loved attending the Father's Day Bluegrass festival at the Fairgrounds.

Sharon is survived by her children Michael Carroll, Kathleen Carroll, and Amy Krause. She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, Donald Krause, and her mother and stepfather, Shirley and Rudolph Stohr of Alta Sierra.

After retiring, Sharon lived in Arizona and cheered for her grandchildren at athletics and school events. In 2015, she moved to Maryland and supported her youngest grandchildren in sports and school performances, happy to be the loudest grandmother in the stands.

Sharon was a loyal friend, dedicated mother, enthusiastic grandmother, adventurous cook, and a voracious reader. Her sense of humor and wry observations will be greatly missed.

Donations may be made to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books to children.
