Sheila Blecksmith Obituary

On December 26, 2022, Sheila Marlene Blecksmith, age 84, in the presence of her loving family, ended her pilgrim days on earth and entered into the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ. A longtime resident of Nevada City, CA, she was a very active member of Calvary Bible Church, Grass Valley since 1969, singing in the choir and serving on the missions committee for many years. Sheila's greatest joy was telling others about Jesus. She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 67 years, Robert H. Blecksmith, Nevada City, CA; their three children, son Robert A. Blecksmith and his wife Teresa of Roanoke, VA; daughter Lori Travis and her husband Dick, of South Bend, IN; daughter Lisa Shisler, of Grass Valley, CA; sisters Christine Van Gelder Brock of Lancaster, CA and Colleen Dietzel of Ocean Beach, CA; brothers Frank Word of Quartz Hill, CA and Larry Word of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Mark Shisler in July 2000.

A memorial service celebrating Sheila's life will be held on March 11 at 2:00pm at Calvary Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to CBC Missions (gvcbc.org).

When it comes to remarkable Christian couples, Bob and Sheila Blecksmith reside way up there on our list! They loved and complemented one another uniquely and beautifully. They parented three amazing children and revered their grandchildren. And Sheila, among her many virtues, was as authentically sweet a woman as we have ever known.

Sheila was the person with the "always smile"... She was cheerful and positive, and that is how she greeted us, wherever we met. We will miss her. She was truly one of God's diamonds, here on earth and she will be missed.

Robert..! Right now I don´t know what to say, so I´ll work at putting a letter together with some thoughts. As MARIE and I "passed through" Calif. she (and her boots) walked into our lives! So, God put you two into our lives. We, Marie and I, have thanked HIM for you two many times over the years. .... I´ll work on that letter.
