Angelo E. "Bids" Bruno

Angelo E. "Bids" Bruno, 89, beloved husband for 62 years of Nancy (Manfredi) Bruno of Azalea Drive, Westerly, died on May 28, 2009, at The Westerly Hospital.
Born in Westerly, he was a son of the late Carmine and Rose (Meringolo) Bruno.
Mr. Bruno had been employed at the George C. Moore Co. for 42 years, retiring as supervisor in 1982.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, honorably discharged with the rank of Pfc. He was a communicant of St. Pius X Church, a longtime member of the Bocce Club, and an avid New York Yankees fan. A devoted family man, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph A. and Diane Bruno of Westerly, and David E. and Lisa Bruno of Milford, Conn.; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna M. and Ron Horan of Mystic; one sister, Virginia Bruno of Westerly; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by seven siblings.
A calling hour will be held Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Elm Street, Westerly. There is no procession from the funeral home to the church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery.
