David Cahoon Obituary

David Cahoon, 51, of Coventry passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, with family and friends by his side.
Born in Westerly, he was the son of James E. and Janice (Salisbury) Cahoon.
He graduated from Coventry High School and served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps, receiving several awards and honors. He then went on to graduate from Rhode Island College with a degree in nursing.
Mr. Cahoon worked in the Emergency Room of South County Hospital for many years, and at the time of his death was manager of Carolina Equestrian in Richmond, R.I. He enjoyed carpentry, mountain biking, weight lifting, and was an avid New England sports fan.
More importantly David had secure expectation of eternal life with his Lord and Savior. He was a Deacon at the North Stonington Bible Church where he was a faithful student and teacher of God's Word, and he knew confidently that to be absent from the body, he would be at home and face-to-face with the Lord. II Corinthians 5:8.
Besides his parents David leaves a brother James E. Cahoon, Jr., and four sisters, Lorna Fairless, Linda Pezzuco, Glenda Blake Jordan, and Debbie Cahoon Reynolds. He also leaves several nieces and nephews to whom he was their greatest mentor.
The family wishes to extend deepest appreciation to all David's friends at the South County Hospital where he received outstanding care during his brief battle with cancer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at 10 a.m., at North Stonington Bible Church, 100 Jeremy Hill Road, North Stonington, CT. Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery, Pendleton Hill Road (Route 49), North Stonington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the North Stonington Bible Church Building Fund.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Cahoon and family, I am one of the many who loved and worked with David at SCH. He was so special, and spoke so often about how he loved his family. Jim,it was great to have you over with Dave when he was working on my house. Two great carpenters, always there for each other. Jim, I'm available for Sunday afternoon Scrabble any ol' time. David was a strong man with a good head on his shoulders and a heart of gold. I still can't believe he's gone; it just doesn't seem real. I pray that his family and friends take peace in knowing that he is with Jesus and all of his loved ones that passed before him and that we will see him again when God calls us home, as He will for each of us some day. Rest in peace David.
