Gary Ketchen Obituary
Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late Leonard J. and Evelyn Ketchen.
Gary worked as a Bartender for Foxwoods Resort and Casino for many years. He was a member of the Westerly BPOE Lodge #678 where he was Elk of the Year in 2015. He was an animal lover, and an avid Red Sox and Patriots' fan. Gary will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.
He leaves his sister Maureen Roy of Westerly; and many nieces and nephews including Fr. Dean Perri of E. Providence, and Shannon Algier, Stephanie Ketchen and Bethany Roy, all of Westerly. Gary was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Billy Ketchen; a sister-in-law Peggy Ketchen; and his nephew Christopher Ketchen.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12th, from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, Feb. 13th at 11am. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Pawcatuck. So sorry to learn this sad news. All of the things mentioned about Gary in his obit, and in the condolences are true. Gary was always just one of those guys who, if you knew him, you liked him.
I went all the way back to grade school with Gary and we were friends all the way through. Though I haven't lived in the Westerly area for many years, Gary and I would occasionally cross paths and when we did, it was as though we were still boys again and no time had passed; and we always had a hearty laugh together.
I am saddened to learn that he has left us. Rest in Peace old friend. Danny

Uncle I miss you so much..our house just isn't the same now. All the laughs, the teasing you did to me dean beth steph my boys and maiya and lucas. The bubbles song u made up when we were kids and you passed on to my boys and your great niece maiya will forever be sung on holidays and get togethers. I could go on forever. I just miss you and love you so much

What can I say about Gary. What a funny guy. Had some really good times with Gary, stories from our younger years that can't be repeated to this day, LOL I haven't seen Gary for some time but, I'm sure he never changed. Quick witted is spot on. Gary was a very kind man, I will miss him dearly. Until we meet again Gary, my you rest in peace.
