Hugh Hoffman Obituary

HUGH H. HOFFMAN (1931 - 2023)
Weekapaug Summer Resident
Hugh H. Hoffman, surrounded by beloved friends and family, passed quietly on March 2, 2023 at the age of 91 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Hugh was the son of Herbert and Madeleine Rowe Hoffman and brother of Rowe Hoffman and Eleine Hoffman Brooks.
He was a native Cincinnatian and a dedicated booster of his hometown sports teams. But there was nothing he loved more than spending summer months in Weekapaug and he did so every summer of his life. Hugh's mother's family (Rowe) began spending summers at the Weekapaug Inn long before he was born.
Hugh attended the Cincinnati Country Day School and graduated high school at the Cheshire Academy in Connecticut in 1950. Hugh then attended Yale University and graduated there in 1954. Following his graduation, he worked at the Howard Paper Mill in Dayton, Ohio before beginning a long career as an investment advisor at W.E. Hutton & Co. and Thomson McKinnon in Cincinnati.
Donations may be sent in memory of Hugh Hoffman to the Weekapaug Foundation for Conservation, P.O. Box 3067, Westerly, RI 02891 or the Weekapaug Chapel Society, 4 Wawaloam Dr. Westerly, RI 02891.

To Hugh's family: I want to express my thoughts of the loss of your loved one. Although I never met him, I just am grateful for people like him that are thoughtful and gracious in their giving. I know it has been almost a year since your loss. I live in Middletown CT and spend summers in Charlestown, RI and I just saw the donation to ALS Association and want to say "thank you". My brother passed from ALS just over ten years ago. I continue to support the local chapter...but nothing compared to the monetary donation from Hugh. To think of all the people he will be supporting in the future is amazing. Again, thank you and God bless
