Although I only met Irving once when as a Crandall Cousin I wrote him to ask if I could visit the house, he was gracious enough to invite me for a visit and took the time to show me around. He was a delight to spend time with and I'm sure will be missed by many.

Irving was the type of person who was an unforgettable character. My regards to his close relatives and friends. Respectfully, Scott Bill Hirst.

Mr. Crandall lived along life and surly left a legend for those who knew him to follow. He did not hold back his words, he said what was on his mind. His home on Pound Road was just a few miles from the center of town with all the hustle and bustle. But when I visited Mr. Crandall it was like going back two hundred years. I was so glad to see the large turnout for his memorial serve at the farm. He will be remembered by those that crossed his path. Where we are now Mr. Crandall was. Where he is now we shall be. I will find that "Cup and Saucer Rock" you and I spoke about. Rest in peace Mr. Crandall.

Sadly there are too few among us like Erving and Arlene. I enjoyed their company and conversations very much in Shady Harbor.

In my opinion Irving was never in a hurry and was a genius at applying common sense and the laws of physics. He could lift and move most anything with a few jacks or a Johnson Bar.
