Rita T. Cuda

WESTERLY - Rita T. Cuda, 96, of Westerly, passed away peacefully into the loving hands of God on Monday, September 22, 2025. She was born on September 12, 1929, in Westerly, RI to the late Alexander and Mary Rose, and was the youngest of seven children who all predeceased her. Rita was a 1947 graduate of Westerly High School. Rita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Cuda and her two sons, James P. Cuda and John D. Cuda.

Rita found love and purpose in giving generously to others. She supported numerous charities throughout her life, including her longtime devotion to the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, a cause close to her heart through her son John. Her passion for knitting and crocheting became another way she touched lives. Rita created countless handmade items, which she donated not only to local organizations but also to communities in need around the world.

She is survived by her loving daughter-in-law, Sally Cuda, and her grandchildren, Sean Cuda, Amanda (Thomas) Nowak, Melissa (Stephen) Villanova, and Elizabeth (Patrick) Malaghan. Rita will also be remembered fondly by her six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Funeral services will be at 10am on Thursday, September 25, 2025, with all gathering directly at St Pius X Catholic Church, 44 Elm St, Westerly, RI. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly.
