Robert J. Johnson

WEST WARWICK - Robert J. Johnson of West Warwick born on June 29, 1964 passed over into eternal life on November 15, 2025, at Kent Hospital after a lengthy and heroic battle against metastatic cancer.

A talented machinist, he worked for the family run business Richard D. Johnson & Sons until its closure and remained a machinist elsewhere until his early retirement.

Bob was a dedicated Minnesota Vikings fan and also followed NCAA Men's Basketball, specifically the Gonzaga Bulldogs. He enjoyed true crime shows and old westerns.

He will be sadly missed by his son Nicholas R. Johnson and his former wife and best friend Joanne L. Johnson, both of Ashaway, RI; his siblings Richard D. Johnson, Jr., (Karen) of Virginia, Walter Bill Johnson (Vivian) of Coventry, RI, Dorothy Deremer (John) of Florida, Sandra Zabriskie (John) of Richmond, Charles Johnson (Karen) of Ashaway, RI, Barry Johnson of Stonington, CT and Donald Johnson (Kim) of Hope Valley, RI; as well as 50 + nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved cat Shadow.

He was pre-deceased by his parents Richard and Elaine Johnson and his infant sister Beverly Johnson.

Calling hours will be held from 2-5pm on Sunday November 23, 2025, at the SR Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. Hope Valley, RI. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, with all meeting for a 10am service at the Seventh Day Baptist Church, 8 Church St., Ashaway, RI 02804. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Hopkinton, RI.
