Vincenzo Rocco Didone

WESTERLY - Vincenzo Rocco Didone, 89, beloved husband for 57 years of Vincenza (Salvatori) Didone, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side at their home in Westerly on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Born in Sora, Italy, he was the son of the late Francesco and Loreta Didone. Vincenzo immigrated to the US by himself at the age of 18 in search of a better life. He worked at several different jobs until settling at Electric Boat in Groton, where he worked for 34 years until his retirement.

Vincenzo faced many challenges and personal struggles throughout his life, but his fighting spirit and his strong faith in Jesus Christ helped him to overcome. He was a communicant of St. Pius X Church in Westerly. He enjoyed watching baseball and football and was a die-hard New York Yankees fan and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

In addition to his wife Vincenza, he is survived by four children: Loretta Smith (Herbert Sonia), Lisa Diaz (Gil), James Didone (Jodi), and Deanna Falcone (Anthony). He is also survived by three siblings: Anna Fusaro of Westerly, Rosalba Tomassi and Philomena Bonomo (Attilio) of Sora, Italy; and his sister-in-law Antoinette Didone of Westerly.

He was the loving grandfather of seven grandchildren: Melissa Smith, Jamie DiSpirito, Christopher Didone, Kameron Sonia, and Alexa, Geena, and Ava Falcone; and four great-grandchildren: Lexie Yemma, Aria DiSpirito, Avery Macleod, and Colton Sonia. They will miss him dearly. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Vinny was predeceased by his first wife, Deanna Dickens Didone, his brother Antonio Didone, and twin brothers in infancy, Loreto and Pietro.

Visiting hours will be held from 5pm 7pm on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly at 9am on Thursday, Dec. 18. There is no procession from the funeral home to the church.
