My thoughts and prayers go out to Don's family...Don will be missed. This verse from Galatians 6:10 sums him up "..as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone" In addition to always being kind and considerate, he was a gifted architect.

To Don's family, I am so sorry for your loss. Many, many years ago I worked with Don at the Sears data center. He was so friendly , smart and a really good manager. While working second shift and the odd days, we all got to know each other well. There were times we would talk and his thoughts would go to his children. His hopes and dreams for their future. What a proud father he was! Don openly shared his delight and love for his children. He once told me that there was nothing more important to him in his life than his children. He was a wonderful man. You can be proud.

I was saddened to hear the news today of the passing of Don Shanks. I have known him and worked with him for over 20 years. He was always a pleasure to work with, and his wit and humor will be missed.

I'm saddened to hear about Don's passing. When I relocated to Columbus back in 1990 Don was my manager and treated me like a friend whom he had known for years. He made my new surroundings as pleasant as possible. He will be in my prayers each and every day.

Don was my neighbor and though we only had a few conversations he was always considerate and polite. My thoughts are with Don's family and friends during this difficult time.

We were Don's neighbors for the past two years. During that time we had many conversations with him. While Don was somewhat reserved, he was surely animated when he spoke about a recent or upcoming Harley ride. During this past fall Don spoke excitedly about the prospect of attending a Bishop Hartley get-together/football game. The consummate gentleman, Don was always polite, respectful, and considerate of others. Whenever we saw him, he greeted us with a smile and a question about our well-being. We will miss Don, and send heartfelt thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

To all of Don's family and close friends;
I had the pleasure of meeting Don 2 1/2
years ago and assisting him with his home purchase. I would see him each week while working in the building where he lived and was always greeted by his friendly manor and enjoyed our many conversations. I will miss his pleasant smile and easy going manor. He was very special member of the the community. My thoughts and prayers are with Don and his family.
My sincere condolences,
Gregg Herbst
