Mary K. Beyrer

1922 - 2016

Beyrer Mary K. Beyrer, age 94, died peacefully in her residence in Dublin, Ohio on Sunday, May 22, 2016. She was born on March 3, 1922 in South Bend, Indiana, the only daughter of Charles and Marie (Barkel) Beyrer. Mary inherited the humor of the Beyrer family. She was an example of how to live a life to the fullest. She worked diligently and then took time to enjoy family and friends. Mary graduated from Macalester College, MacMurray College and received a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. She joined The OSU faculty as a professor of health education; where she became the Director of School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. She then left that position to become the President of American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Mary wrote books and articles and presented speeches about health education. It was important to her to keep in touch with her graduate students. Mary was a Deacon and involved in many committees with the Indianola Presbyterian Church. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
