Delton Ernest Cummings

1945 - 2024

Delton Ernest Cummings, age 78, of Widener, died Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Arkansas Continue Care Hospital in Jonesboro. He had been in poor health for the past several years.
Mr. Cummings was born June 8, 1945, in the Jolly Community, and was the son of Imon Cummings and Joy Lucker Cummings. He lived in St. Francis County all of his life and graduated of Forrest City High School in 1963. He owned and operated Cummings Sheet Metal Company in Forrest City until 1978, later farming in the Caldwell area until 1989. He continued to work in the air conditioning business with his brother, Arlis, and son, Tony. He worked in woodworking at his home and became an expert woodworking craftsman in his later years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a past Master Mason. He was a member of the Madison First Baptist Church.
Mr. Cummings is survived by one son, Tony Cummings and wife, Christy, of Forrest City; one daughter, Catina Cummings Ashlock of Waldenburg; five brothers, Willard C. Cummings of Cookville, Tenn., Billy Lee Cummings of Marion, Ivan Cummings, Millard Cummings and Arlis Cummings, all of Pine Tree; three sisters, Willene Harding of Marion, Dorothy Reed of Wooster and Becky Swanson of Wynne; five grandchildren, Logan, Peyton, Braxton, Benjamin and Landyn, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Cummings, and one sister, Wilma Gwatney.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel and continue until the service at 2 p.m., in the chapel. Burial will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery.
