Peggy Rene (Fair) Smith, 54, of Forrest City completed her time on earth Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, in Jonesboro.
Peggy was born Nov, 2, 1969, in Forrest City to Hollis E. and Joyce (Renfro) Fair.
Life wasn't always easy for Peggy, especially the last eight years following surgery to remove her legs, but her positive attitude and fighting spirit made her an inspiration to those around her, whether family, friends or hospital staff.
She was a 1988 graduate of Calvary Christian School in Forrest City. She married Timothy Lynn Smith on Jan. 15, 1993. Later she attended EACC, where she earned an Associate's Degree in office technology. Among the jobs she held over the years, she's probably best known for her time as secretary at Best Satellite in Forrest City and as a volleyball coach at Calvary Christian School.
Peggy and family were members of the Forrest City Church of God.
She enjoyed cooking, as well as cross-stitching, embroidery and quilting. But her biggest joy was spending time with family and friends. She stayed in touch with those she was closest to by phone, choosing not to focus on her own personal difficulties but rather being there for the joys and tragedies of those around her. She was the glue of the Fair family, as well as many others.
Peggy leaves behind her husband of 31 years, Tim Smith of Forrest City; daughter, Lauren Smith of Forrest City; mother, Joyce Fair of Heber Springs, and brothers, Larry Fair and wife, Melanie, of
Bridgeport, Texas, and Michael Chism of Forrest City along with numerous other family and friends and plenty of four-legged children.
She was preceded in death by her precious daddy, Hollis Fair, and brothers Harold Renfro, Wayne Chism and Donny Chism.
Pallbearers will be Scott Moore, Alex Riggs, Owen Riggs, Chris Hunt, Tim McKee, Adam Kennedy, Greg Hoskins and Shane Tapp. Larry McNair will be an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be this evening, Friday, March 1, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Forrest City Church of God withBro. J.E. Hughes and Bro. Anthony Kennedy officiating.
