Lynne Jacobson Obituary

Lynne Joanne Jacobson, 81, Sutton, ND, went home to Heaven on May 12, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth, generosity, and unwavering kindness touched countless lives.

There will be visitation at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Wimbledon, ND from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00, Monday, May 19. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 20 at 10:30 AM at St. Boniface. She will be laid to rest at St. George Catholic Cemetery, Cooperstown, ND later that afternoon. The service will be live streamed, then archived, on a link provided along with her obituary on her tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com.  An online guestbook is available there as well.

Lynne was born on February 8, 1944, to Katherine and Merlin House. She grew up in Grace City, ND, where she attended high school. She later pursued her education at Minot State and earned her teaching certificate from Valley City College. On October 19, 1963, she married the love of her life, Alan Jacobson, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and service.

She began her teaching career with a sixth-grade class and went on to teach third grade and kindergarten in Sutton and McHenry, ND. She later worked as a substitute teacher and eventually found another calling in the kitchen, preparing meals with love at the Cooperstown nursing home.

Lynne and Alan were blessed with two children, Alana and Chris, whom she cherished deeply. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren-Jacob, Maia, and Joshua-who were a constant source of joy and pride. She nurtured them in every way imaginable: from heartfelt letters filled with highlighted articles, to bags filled with "just a few things" like cool whip containers filled with left-overs, hot cocoa, or noodles, to countless home-cooked meals and her famous homemade buns. No one ever left her home empty-handed. She always had to eat at McDonald's to get the Happy Meal toys for the kids in emergency room.

Lynne was a woman of deep faith and lived a life rooted in prayer. Her quiet strength and servant's heart were especially evident during difficult times-never more so than when she moved in with her daughter Alana during her battle with cancer to help care for the children. She was a pillar of support and an example of unconditional love.

Her passions were simple but meaningful: tending to her vibrant flower beds, doting on the many farm cats she adored, and spreading joy through everyday kindness. I know her cats will miss her too. Lynne gave freely of herself and always thought of others first. Her smile, generosity, and gentle spirit will be missed more than words can express.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, Clinton Jacobson and Tony Tanata; and many dear cousins. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Alan; daughter, Alana (Alan) McClellan; son, Chris; grandchildren, Jacob and Maia Wendel, and Joshua Ekern; sister, Muriel (Jon) Otto; brother, Francis (Dee) House; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.

Lynne's legacy is one of love, faith, and quiet strength-a life well lived, and a heart well remembered.
