Virginia Swanson Obituary

Virginia (Ginny) Swanson, 79, Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on August 18, 2023. Ginny was born in Valley City, ND in 1943, the daughter of Margaret and Donald Wire DVM. She graduated from Valley City High School in 1962. Ginny received her nursing degree from University of Jamestown in 1966 and began her career as a registered nurse at St Luke's Hospital in Fargo.
She married C. Herbert Swanson in 1972. They made their home in Norman, Oklahoma. Ginny worked as a registered nurse in the Norman area. She loved spending time with her family.
Ginny was proud to be from Valley City and enjoyed her high school class reunions. She enjoyed reminiscing about working at the Dario with the owners and co-workers. A highlight of any visit to Valley City was taking a drive in the beautiful Sheyenne River Valley, along with touring the town.
Ginny is survived by her husband, Herb, six children and nine grandchildren. Area survivors include her siblings: Ellen Schatzke, Pleasant Hill, IA; Jim Wire, West Fargo ND and Joanne Zaharia, Cummings, ND. She is predeceased by her parents and sister, Jeanette Winge.
Ginny's memorial service will be on September 9, 2023 at 10:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Norman, Oklahoma.
