Cassandra Hansen, a wise and beautiful woman, left this world on November 23, 2005, surrounded by her family. She was 56 years of age. She will be missed by many, every single day.
Cassandra was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Beatrice and Roland Hyland and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from college with a BA and worked in telecommunications before settling into a 22 year long career as a social worker, during which her longest terms were for Beverly Manor Hospital in Petaluma and for the County of Humboldt. She loved outdoor activities and spending time with her family. In recent years Cassandra’s ailing health had prevented her from doing some of the things she enjoyed so much, like camping and hiking.
Cassandra is survived by her three children, Roger Perez of Fortuna, Tina Davis and Christopher Hyland of Chicago, Illinois, her son and daughter-in-law, Christina Perez and Anthony Godinho both of Fortuna; her seven grandchildren, Jessica Perez, Sarah Perez, Naomi Perez, William Godinho and Jazmin Perez all of Fortuna, Crystal and Bret Davis of Chicago, Illinois; her long time best friend and roommate, Elena Godinho; and many other special extended family and friends like Elma Burns of Fortuna and Alex P. Sun of San Francisco.
Cassandra was preceded in death by her parents and three beloved grandchildren.
In life Cassandra strived to do all she could to help her family and friends. In spirit, she will carry us on and fill us with hope.
A memorial celebration of Cassandra’s life will be held at Goble’s Fortuna Mortuary on December 5, 2005, at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow.
