IVAN ROBERT CARTER Ivan Robert Carter of Mckinleyville, Ca. passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the age of 73. Ivan passed away at Mad River Hospital in Arcata. He was born June 16, 1944 in Chelan, Washington, the son of Ivan and Stella (Daniels) Carter. He attended grade school in McKinleyville and graduated from McKinleyville High School in 1963. This was the first class to graduate from MHS. Ivan excelled in both basketball and track. He lettered in both sports. He coached the boys in basketball. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards and drinking his Bud. Ike always welcomed his extended family for parties and holiday get together. He served in the Army for 2 years and worked for Simpson Korbel for 30 years. He was a proud Union member. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister (Patrica Harned), his wife of 34 years (Norma), and his sons Leslie and Bobby Bowie. He is survived by his sister Barbara (Al) Carlson, Nephew Jon (Jamie) Carlson and Niece Lori Smallwood, his Grandson Leslie Bowie Jr., daughter-in-law Cindi Bowie and Granddaughter Madison Bowie. His sisters-in-law Aileen Meyers, Brenda Bowie, Eloise Meyer (Judy Freyslaben) and father-in-law Elmo Bowie. He is also survived by his special nephew Brian Wells and Niece Maggie Wells as well as several other nieces and nephews. Friends and family are all invited to the Graveside service on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Greenwood Cemetery, 1757 J St., Arcata, Ca.
