As a result of a tragic automobile accident, we lost our beloved “Joanie” on Sunday, February 20, 2005. No words can express our sorrow at losing such a special mother, sister, and friend.
Veronica Joan Greene was born on January 17, 1966, in Eureka, California. Joan was the “baby” of the family - the last of 10 children born to Lloyd and Joyce Greene. A delight from birth, she brought joy to family and friends throughout her life. Joanie was a special nurturer and ambitious soul that made her a doting mother, sister, aunt and friend. Those of us who were close to her were oh so fortunate to have such a genuine and beautiful person in our lives.
Joan graduated from Ukiah High School and attended College of the Redwoods. Joan was a determined and extremely resourceful individual and on of her decisions included obtaining her commercial drivers license. After obtaining her license, Joan went to work for Johnson and Carter in Fortuna as a fuel truck driver. At the time of her death Joan was employed by L & M Renner Petroleum first as a truck driver, hauling fuel all over rural parts of Humboldt County, but later transferring into sales. Joan said that she missed the beautiful mornings driving up in the hills of our county, and it was not uncommon of her to call one of her sisters or friends mid-day and say: “You will not believe how beautiful it is here.” Joan enjoyed her many coworkers and customers and was fortunate to have worked with such kind and caring people.
Joan is survived by her beloved daughter, Erin Lozano of Rio Dell, and Joan’s ex-husband, Michael Lozano of Scotia. Joan leaves behind her siblings, Gary Greene and his wife Peggy of Witts Springs, Arkansas, Shirley Anne Lancaster of Rio Dell, Richard Greene of Rio Dell, Gene Greene of Eureka, Marie Greene Essig and her husband Steven of Hydesville, Paul Greene and his wife Sue of Fortuna and Anthony Greene of Bakersfield. Aunt Joanie also leaves behind her special nieces and nephews, Stephanie Beauchaine of Rio Dell, Anthony Essig of Hydesville, Jennifer Greene of San Diego, Jessica Greene of Fortuna, Nathan Kesser of Fortuna, Sarah and Alexander Greene of Sweet Home, Oregon, and Jason Buck of Ukiah. Of special importance to Joan was her beloved friend, Steve Morehead of Rio Dell, her best friend, Jamie Valentine of Ukiah and Joan’s dog - Maddy.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Joyce Greene; her sister, Mary Greene-Kesser; and her brother, William Greene.
Friends are invited to attend memorial services on March 12, 2005, at 1:00 P.M. at Goble’s Fortuna Mortuary.

Like many others, I remember only too well the bright rosy cheeks of Joan and Mary. How horrible the loss dealt again to the Greene Family. I know you will continue to persevere, smiling your beautiful smiles again, knowing that Joan is peaceful and happy, and will always be close by until you do meet again. My heart aches for your loss, the loss that only time can help to soften but never take away. You are in my prayers and in my heart.
God Bless, Janiece

MY GOOD FRIEND, JOAN,
WHERE DO I START TO DESCRIBE THE FRIENDSHIP THAT WE SHARED? YOU SHARED MY HEARTFELT SECRETS IN ALL OF MY GROWING UP YEARS,AND WERE THERE FOR SO MANY OF MY FIRSTS! I HAVE THOUGHT OF YOU SO MUCH DURING THE LAST TEN YEARS WHEN WE HAVE JUST HAD A SMALL AMOUNT OF CONTACT. NOTHING CAN EVER TAKE AWAY MY MEMORIES OF US IN HAWAII WITH MY FOLKS, YOUR FAMILY PICNICS, AND ALL OF THE SILLY TIMES WE SHARED. THE ONE THING I ALWAYS KNEW WITHOUT A DOUBT IS THAT YOU WERE A TRUE FRIEND TO THE END. MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOUR BELOVED BABY GIRL, ERIN AND YOUR WONDERFUL SISTERS WHO DID SUCH AN INCREDIBLE JOB OF ALWAYS MAKING YOU FEEL WANTED AND LOVED. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART, VERONICA JOAN! Your death has left us sad beyond description, yet at the same time there is a peacefulness that surrounds all that you have touched. Life won't be the same without you baby-sister, but your memories fill our days with peace and comfort - save a place for us, until we meet again, I love you Sissie.

With a tear in my eye and a smile on my face I think of Joane,I will hold on to those memories of her...We went to grade school together and part of high school. She was a fantastic person. One who loved to hear a good joke as well as tell one. I can still remember our childhood birthday parties. I will forever remember Joane for her warm smile and adorable dimples. I am so sorry for your loss. May you hold your memories near and dear to your heart...Becci Ponci-Senestraro

We were so saddened to hear of the sudden loss of Joan. Terry knew Joan when she worked at J&C and I met her when she came to work at Renner. She will always be known as part of the "Renner Family". When we attended the X-mas parties Joan was always so happy and "bubbly". A lady with a big smile and rosey red cheeks. May our thoughts and prayers be with you at this time and May God Bless you. May you always have fond memories of your loved one. Peace be with you. Love Terry & Donna

Shirley and Family-
I attended Toddy Thomas grammar school with Joanie. I remember going over to Joanie's house after school back when the family lived on College Avenue in Campton Heights. I remember Joanie most for her spunkiness, her athletic abilities and her rosy rosy cheeks. She always kicked butt in dodgeball.
We were so sorry to hear of Joanie's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

To All The Greene Family,
Please, accept my heart felt condolences. I'm sorry for your most recent tragic loss. This tragedy seems more than your portion, as a test of faith but God NEVER allows us a cross heavier than we can bear, you surely are an incredibly strong family. I was a confidante of Lloyd in his time of trouble and grief, and an acquaintance of Mary.
May God comfort and strengthen you in your loss and time of grief. May your pleasant memories soon replace your grief with joy and thanksgiving for your loved one.
