Jon Allen Cooke

1955 - 2016

JON ALLEN COOKE March 19, 1955 - February 11, 2016 Jon made his journey home on February 11, 2016, a little over a month before his 61st birthday. He fought a long 30 year battle against Multiple Sclerosis, and is now finally pain free. Jon was born to parents Roy Cooke and Doris (Gladden) Frasier on March 19, 1955 at Shaw Air force Base, Sumter South Carolina. Jon grew up in Fortuna, and lived in Campton Heights where he attended Toddy Thomas Elementary. He went to Fortuna High School and graduated Class of 1973. After high school he worked with his father at Cooke's Construction, and also at the Palco Mill. He went on to work at Forbusco Lumber Co, where he worked for 25 years until his MS made him unable to work. In 1978, he married his loving wife, Connie (Myers) Cooke. Together they raised two daughters, Layla (Cooke) DiStefano, and Alanna Cooke. In his prime, Jon loved flying his stunt kites at the beach, camping, hiking, fishing, sports, and playing pranks on unsuspecting family and friends. He had a true love for animals. He was a loving, devoted husband, an amazing father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, who touched many lives. Jon will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, thoughtfulness, integrity, and sense of humor. Jon was preceded in his death by his father Roy Allen Cooke, step-father Russ Frasier, grandparents Cecil and Lottie Cooke, Art and Agnes Gladden, uncle Richard Gladden, and many other beloved family members. He is survived in his death by his loving mother Doris Frasier, his beloved wife of 41 years Connie Cooke, daughter and son-in-law Layla and Demetrius DiStefano, daughter Alanna Cooke and her partner Timothy, brother Jim Cooke, sister Esther Doyle, and many other family members, friends, and pets he loved so dearly. The family is truly grateful for all the support, kind words, and donations made to Jon's GoFundMe account.
