Lola Lorene Coombe, 79, resident of Eureka, California, passed away January 28, 2004. Lola was born June 24, 1924, in Cherryvale, Kansas, one of 13 children.
In 1942 she married and had three children of her own. During World War II, she worked in the shipyards at Mare Island. She married her second husband in 1949 and had four additional children. She worked as a waitress for many years, but in 1968 became a Licensed Vocational Nurse until her retirement in 1996.
Lola is survived by her sons, Philip Perry and Dale Coombe; daughters, Phylis Jones and Barbara Coombe; grandchildren, Vern, David, Michael, Philip Jones, Rick Havin, Michael Vaile, Donald Coombe, Seth Caprile, Lorraine Harrison, Gloria Lucas, Melissa Petranek, Brenda Perry, Gail XXXX, and Denise Finley; great-grandchildren, Bryan, Joshua, Michael, Krystina Jones, Julianna Merriott, James and Rebecca Wielahan, Rachel and Jacob Harrison, Randall Mielke, Scyler Petranek, Alexander Posey, Jesse and Rebecca Lucas; great-great-granddaughter, Katelyn; sisters, Nora Tucker, Elva Dumas, Bonnie Benback and their husbands; brothers, Everett and Jack Morris and their wives; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friend, Sammie Vaile.
Lola was preceded in death by her husbands, Philip Perry December 7, 1970, and James Coombe, January 4, 1986; her parents, Frances and Verda Morris; daughters, Sharon Ann Perry, Kathryn Marie Coombe, and Cheryle Ann Caprile; grandson, Philip Perry; sisters, Jessie Shultz, Rhoda Chapman, Viola Hanick, and Corrine Morris; brothers, Francis, Bob, and Louis Morris.
There will be a visitation at Chapel of the Ferns-Cooper Mortuary on Monday, February 2, 2004, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, immediately followed by a service in Chapel of the Ferns-Cooper Mortuary Chapel, Eureka. There will be a private family interment at Sunset Memorial Park.
Arrangements are entrusted to Chapel of the Ferns-Coopers Mortuary, Eureka.
