Olen Pate Obituary

Olen C. Pate

Olen C. Pate passed away unexpectedly on February 15, 2006, in Garden Grove, California, just days after a visit by his daughters and granddaughters. He was born March 12, 1936, in Kansas, the only son of Ruth and Clyde Pate. He is survived by his daughters, Tina Kerrigan of Eureka, California, and Michelle Lathim of Vancouver, Washington; and his granddaughters, Katrina and Jennifer Smith of Vancouver, Washington.

Olen lived a long and full life. He was a draftsman and civil engineer by trade and dabbled in real estate investing. He also served in the Marine Corps. He loved traveling, art, antiques, restoring houses, sailing and finding a bargain. In his later years, his greatest joy was seeing his daughters and granddaughters and going out to lunch at his favorite restaurants.

The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff and care givers at Gold Crest Retirement Center in Garden Grove, California, where Olen lived for the past year.

A memorial service will be held at sunset on Saturday, April 8, 2006, at the Seal Beach Pier in Southern California. A dinner at Walt’s Wharf in Seal Beach will follow for family and close friends.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent in Olen Pate’s memory to the Eureka Community Resource Center c/o the Redwood Memorial Hospital Foundation, 3300 Renner Drive, Fortuna, CA 95540.
