Robert Antonsen Obituary

Robert “Bob” Antonsen

Bob Antonsen passed away March 6, 2005, in Corvallis, Oregon, at the age of 75. He was a resident of both California and Oregon.

Bob was born in Albany, Oregon, March 14, 1929, raised in Oregon, graduating from Corvallis High School. His young years were spent helping his father on a farm in the Willamette Valley, which he eventually worked as his own. He moved to Eureka in 1954 to assist his father, Ole Antonsen in construction, where he remained until his father retired. He then became the Wharfinger for the City of Eureka for some 20 years, prior to his retirement.

He enjoyed all the fisherman he made acquaintance with and had many good stories to relate of his time with them.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and taught his son the same, very early on. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed going to the gun shows with his “buddy”, Ron Foster. He was looking forward to going hunting with his dear friend Chris, this year in Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Helen Antonsen; daughter, Sherri Antonsen; and step grandson, Neil Bryan Hubbard Jr.

He is survived by children and spouses, Dean Antonsen and Laurie Orlandi, Lorie and Jeff Weller, Tina and Neil Hubbard; grandchildren, Chris and Nick Weller; step granddaughter, Amy Borden and family. He is also survived by his wife, Jean Niekrasz Antonsen; step children and spouses, Karen and Tom Dinsmore and Greg Niekrasz; step grandchildren, Steven and Travis Dinsmore and Ryan Niekrasz; step great granddaughters, Brooke and Shantelle Dinsmore.

Anyone that loved and knew Bob will miss him deeply.

Memorial Service will be held at the Eureka Elks Lodge, 445 Herrick Avenue. Thursday March 24, 2005, at 2:00 p.m.

My Dad is so missed. All he wanted in life was to be liked and sit and visit with friends and family (for hours if you let him...) He did so much for our area from building so many homes with my grandfather (Ole Antonsen), and for those who remember grandpa he never cut corners and a hand shake was good enough. I believe one of the last construction jobs that my grandpa did that my dad was involved in was the Sacred Heart Church on Myrtle Avenue. Dad worked for the City of Eureka for so many years. I remember when he would need to be down in his little office in the evening at the Boat Basin and I would like to go with him to watch the boats, I couldn't have done that job. He really enjoyed the fishermen and all the stories. Not to mention we seem to get a lot of crab....

Here's a toast to you Dad, I Love You!!!!! ALWAYS...
