Robert Boyer Obituary

Robert Lee Boyer

Surrounded by love Robert Lee Boyer I "Papa," ended his journey on earth December 17th, 2021 at his home on the Rusty Bucket Ranch in Glendale, Oregon.
Papa was born September 3rd, 1945 to Earl and Grace Boyer in Eureka CA. Spending most of his childhood in Humboldt County where he met his lifelong friend, Charles Davis. Papa and Charles were a bit mischievous in their youth running the Manila dunes in vehicles with no brakes, scavenging coins and cigarettes from an overturned truck and Papa losing most of his hair when they started a fire in the woodstove using gasoline.
In his early teenage years Papa moved to Southern California where he tried out many trades along with enlisting in the National Guard before finding his calling. Beginning his long well traveled career traversing the highways and byways of the Western United States behind the wheel of his immaculately polished eighteen wheeler.
Papa returned home to Humboldt County where he started racking up miles from 1977-1985 with Ranch Supply, In 1985 the truck side shut down and Papa added to his resume with Kenneth Poole Trucking from 1985-1991. In 1991 Papa needed a change, making his final professional move to Joe Costa Trucking. Papa continued to rack up the miles until reluctantly ending his 45 year career with 4.5 million miles under his belt in 2010. By the ned of his career he was truly a "Knight of the Highway." There was no mountain too steep, no storm too big, no road too snowy. He was always ready for the challenge and often lead the way for others.
In retirement he dove deep into his love of trains and roses, While trains and roses were a part of his life before retirement the extra free time only added fuel to the fire. Papa had an extensive collection of HO trains along with every single other item needed to create, maintain and run a full layout that took up a 12x12 room. Papa entered his roses in the Humboldt County fair for several years winning many ribbons including his most prized "Best of Show." Papa had no storage of roses to choose from over 100 different rose bushes in his personal garden.
In 2013 Papa moved to Reno, NV with his family where he met many wonderful friends before making his final move to the Rusty Bucket Ranch in Glendale, OR in 2018. Here Papa grew gardens, wrangled pigs, chased steer, fixed fences, remodeled barns, befriended stray cats, ran around on his tractor, met friends that became family and enjoyed the wildlife until the end.
Papa was preceded in death by his Father (Earl), Mother (Grace), sister (Anna), brother (Austin), Father in-law (Louie Walton 12-30-21), Aunts, Uncles and several Cousins.
Papa is survived by his wife of 38 years Barbara (Meme), Mother in-law Mary Roberts, Mother in-law Judy Scott, Children; Robert (Sabrina) Boyer II, Wendy (Jeff) Kapic, Heather (Josh) Stephens and Shawn Boyer. Grandchildren; Ryan, Glen (Becca), Josh, Tyler (Madison), Raelinn, Christopher, Sara, Colten, Wyatt, Sierra and Aspen. Great Grandchildren; Abby, Falon and Levi.
