Robert Goble Obituary

Robert Goble Robert Harry Goble passed away peacefully on August 19, 2013 at his home in Rescue, CA at the age of 82. He is preceded in death by his father Harry Goble, mother Lois Williams Goble, daughter Diane Sandigo, and wife June. He is survived by his brother Ron Goble, sister Darlene Dills, daughters Carol, Linda, Susan and Paula, sons Stephen and Daniel, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Robert (Bob) was born in Fortuna on July 29, 1931, graduated from Fortuna High School in 1949 and earned his BA degree from San Francisco State College in 1953. He was a 3rd generation owner of Goble's Park Grocery in Fortuna. Being great with numbers, he developed a simple and effective budgeting system that helped many people get out of debt and on track with their finances. Keeping up with the times, when the personal computer was introduced in the 1980's Bob enrolled in computer classes at College of the Redwoods and then successfully transitioned his budgeting system and the store records into electronic form. Always public spirited, he was a long time member of the Fortuna Volunteer Fire Dept., the 20-30 club and his local school board. He also served on the Humboldt Co. Grand Jury in 1984. Bob enjoyed hunting trips with his buddies and faithful companion Betsy (born on the 4th of July and the best bird dog ever). He was a lifelong Giants and 49ers fan and enjoyed the company of family and friends always having a colorful story to share. He will be missed. My grandfather always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. He had a great sense of humor and always had a joke for every occasion. Robert Goble was a great man and will be missed dearly by the friends and family he leaves behind. I love him very much, may he rest in peace.

Danny and Family,
So sorry to hear about your father passing. I loved working @ Globle's w/you and your family. I remember taking all the cash out of the registers at closing time and delivering it to your Dad and Imogene's house. Always in the back of my mind that someone would figure it out and rob us! Good Times! Rest in Peace Bob.

I grew up in Fortuna, Darlene was a close friend and classmate. I knew Robert, Ron, Harry, Lois and of course, Darlene. I loved going to the family market as a kid and continued until I left the area. Great family and friends. Sorry to hear of the passing of a special member of my child hood, my prayers are with you all.
