Seisha Shapiro Obituary

SEISHA SHAPIRO In the late afternoon of April 25, 2015, Seisha passed away as the result of complications from both his lifelong struggle with diabetes and hereditary blood clotting disorders. Seisha was being visited and comforted by his best friend and partner Jodi Webb, and family members who were at his bedside. Seisha was 34 years old. Seisha Shapiro was born in the town of Redway in Humboldt County, California on September 15, 1980. He was the fourth child, and the first son of Linda Faye Francis and Robert Stanley Shapiro. As a child, Seisha's most memorable times were the summer road trips he took with family and close friends to the beaches of Orange County. He developed a fascination with astronomy and the possibilities of space at an early age. He attended his sophomore year of high school in Newport Beach where he spent much of his time in the ocean bodyboarding. Seisha then returned to his home in Humboldt, and to all his longtime friends attending South Fork High School. He would gather with friends on the basketball court whenever there were enough of them up for a game. Seisha gave many years of service to his father's restaurant, Sicilitos in Garberville. He also offered his skills to several restaurants in Sonoma County during periods in which he lived with his partner there. He had a remarkable gift for dealing with customers and was exceptional at handling many facets of the restaurant's busy days. Seisha found pleasure in good food, love, and all of the finer things in life. He enjoyed playing chess, cards, video games, and pool. He could often be found waging bets with friends and was known to be quite the gambler at times. Seisha was an avid collector of movies and of books in more recent times. He especially loved watching all films within the horror genre. His favorite authors included F. Paul Wilson and Stephen King. Seisha was an intelligent, courageous, soft spoken man with a kind and generous heart. He took pleasure in giving to those in need whenever possible. He faced many hardships beginning at an early age, but always came through miraculously and with unfailing optimism. His strength was easily recognized by those who cared for him and it was this attribute that those closest to him would describe as incomparable. Seisha had a laugh as unique and reserved as he was that will be missed and never forgotten. Seisha is preceded in death by his mother Linda Francis, sisters Mochali and Reia Shapiro, and his dog (and baby girl), Ginger. Seisha is survived by his father Robert Shapiro, his siblings Kelila, Levonna, and Paul Shapiro, his partner of seventeen years Jodi Webb and her many family members who loved and welcomed him as one of their own, and his beloved dogs Soldier and Junior. We invite you to come remember Seisha and celebrate his life on May 30th at Beginnings in Briceland at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at jdrf.org/. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com under obituaries.

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. He was one of the only people I knew that had more CDs than me (in alphabetical order). :) I know that he fought long and hard. My condolences to Jodi Webb, as well as all of his friends and family. Xoxo
