Frances Sayah Obituary

WATERBURY - Frances W. "Fran" Sayah, 79, passed away in the comfort of her home and family on Saturday evening, March 11, 2017.
Born in Barre on May 28, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Clyde A. Whittemore Sr. and Eleanor (Jangraw) Whittemore. On May 27, 1961, she married Lawrence "Lefty" Sayah in Waterbury.
Fran was a 1955 graduate of Waterbury High School and then went on to work for Green Mountain Power in Burlington. With a desire to see the country beyond the borders of Vermont, she and a friend hit the road with California as their destination. After completing their mission and satisfying her wanderlust, Fran returned to Vermont and found employment with the state of Vermont in Montpelier.
Following her marriage, Fran was happy and busy as a homemaker raising her family and in addition, worked part time at the former Crust and Cauldron Restaurant in Waterbury. More recently, Fran was employed as a customer representative at the Vermont State Employees Credit Union in Waterbury from which she retired in 2002.
She was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan who almost never missed a game. Fran's passion was spending time in the kitchen, especially baking goodies for her grandchildren. Fran enjoyed playing cards, games and going to bingo with her family, particularly her sisters. For years, she was a dedicated volunteer at the Waterbury Area Food Shelf.
Fran is loved and mourned by her husband of 56 years, Lawrence Sayah, of Waterbury; their children, Jeff Sayah, of Moretown, Julie Motch, and her husband, Franklin, of Waterbury Center; her son-in-law, Tom Lamb, of Plymouth, NH; three grandchildren, Jacob Lamb, of Plymouth, NH, and Sam and Elizabeth Motch, of Waterbury Center; three sisters, Linda Warren, and her husband, Kevin, of Waterbury, Carol Wheeler, of Waterbury, and Beverly Close, of Melbourne, FL; her sister-in-law, Betty Whittemore, of Waterbury Center; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Fran was predeceased by a daughter, Vicki Lamb, and two brothers, Clyde Whittemore Jr. and David Whittemore.
A service celebrating the life of Frances Sayah will be held from the Waterbury Congregational Church on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow in the church dining room. Later inurnment will take place in Hope Cemetery, Waterbury.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Waterbury Area Food Shelf, 57 South Main St. #3, Waterbury, VT 05676.

I am so sorry to hear about Fran's passing. She was such a fun lady and had a great sense of humor - and her cookies were the best!! My heart goes out to Lefty, Jeff and Julie, and the rest of her family. I know for certain that we never lose the ones we love, even to death, because their love leaves an imprint in our hearts.
