Laurette Perry Obituary

SOUTH BARRE - Laurette L. Perry, 77, of the Middle Road, passed away on Nov. 26, 2014, at home surrounded by her family.

Since 2009 she has been battling cancer and spinal stenosis with courage and dignity while assuring her family and friends that she was doing OK and feeling fine.

Born April 24, 1937, in Averill, Vermont, she was the daughter of Edward and Bernadette (Tanguay) Laliberty. In 1946, she moved to Montpelier with her family.

She attended Montpelier's former St. Michael's Elementary School and graduated from the former St. Michael's High School in 1955.

On Aug. 24, 1957, she married Craig W. Perry in St. Augustine Church in Montpelier.

Following their marriage, they lived in Barre and in 1988 moved to South Barre. Craig passed away on March 21, 2012.

After graduation she went to work for the National Life Insurance Co. until 1960, when her first child was born. She worked part time for the state of Vermont and MassMutual Insurance. In 1979, she went to work for USDA, Farmers Home Administration, as an office manager until her retirement in 1994.

She enjoyed reading, traveling, dancing, snowmobiling, camping, sewing, cooking and spending time with her family. With her husband by her side, she especially enjoyed entertaining and cooking special recipes for her family and friends.

She and her husband loved the cruises they took and spending time in Las Vegas, Florida and her favorite vacation spot, Wells, Maine. Laurette was a longtime member of St. Monica Parish.

Survivors include two daughters, Lori and Julie, and one son, Glenn, all of South Barre; her sister Suzan Baril, of South Burlington; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister Eileen Payne, her sister Jeannette Maurice and her brothers-in-law, Norman Payne, Leo Maurice and Charles Baril.

Laurette's family gives heartfelt thanks to her sister Suzan and family friends Butch and Judy Johnson, Doug and Irene Brown, Barbara Pilette and Nicole Perreault. Also thanks to her caregivers at Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice for their care and friendship. Special thanks to the teams of Dr. James Rigas and Dr. Lesley Jarvis at Dartmouth's Norris Cotton Cancer Center for their care and expertise. And Dr. Laura Felsted and Dr. Marilyn Hart for their caring dedication to Laurette's health needs throughout the years.

Laurette's life will be honored and celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, Vermont.

Later interment will be made in St. Sylvester Cemetery in Barre Town.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
