Dear Mark and Family,
I am very sorry to hear about Marks Passing! My name is James Bordeaux . I am a resident of Waterbury Vermont. Mark used to come into the Depot Beverage when I worked there in high school. Mark was very proud to hear my entry into the US Army back in 2001- for almost 10 years Mark would ask me “When’s the Army gonna promote ya?” Well, to answer Marks question, The US ARMY National Guard Promoted me this month on May 1st, 2010. I am now Sergeant James Bordeaux. I wish Mark was here so I could share the great news with him. He always wanted to see me get promoted. “Get your stripes yet?” were the last words I heard from him in Subway this early spring. I wish the best for his family and to Mark, a very special thank you for serving. You will not be forgotten.

I remember Mark from grade school in Waitsfield. He and I were friends and played together. I also remember his pretty sister and attractive mother. Mark and I went to a few local baseball games, when the Waitsfield High School team was playing at home. I believe I remember inviting him to our farm and him driving my pair of black & white oxen. I enjoyed Mark’s company a lot and also remember being envious, in a kind way, of him because he was so smart.
Many years passed and I met him in Waterbury at the sub shop. We spoke of general things and I continued to see Mark walking to and from Waterbury and we would wave to each other. And again, I would remember the good times of our youth.
I regret that I will not be with his mother and sister this Monday at the Veteran’s Cemetery. Cursed is this society that places such a high value on ‘previous commitments’ over being with an old friend and his family one last time!
May your fond memories of Mark comfort you at this time.
Please accept my personal sympathy and that of the Mad River American Legion Post 75.

Kim,
We are so sorry to hear of Mark's passing. We've enjoyed seeing him over the many years as neighbors. It was always a very interesting conversation with him when we'd give him a ride home when the weather was bad. We'll miss seeing him walking and playing golf in the yard.
