Stephen Lawing

1951 - 2022

Stephen Talmadge Lawing, age 71, peacefully passed at home in the company of his immediate family on Thursday, September 8, 2022 after bravely battling brain cancer. Steve was born on August 31, 1951 as the first child of Lena Swann and Newland Lawing in Marion, North Carolina. Steve and his wife Pam's life together began in 1970 as students at North Carolina State University. Upon graduation, Steve pursued a career in his field of study, Recreation and Parks Administration in Cary, North Carolina. Ironically, Pam's employment with IBM precipitated Steve's transition from the Parks Department to a career with IBM. After settling in Colorado in 1995, Steve retired from IBM in 2008, concluding a 30-year career in Marketing and Management and allowing Steve more time to enjoy golf, tennis, and motorcycle travel. Steve is survived by his younger sister Carol Seymour, along with his wife Pam, his sons Tally and Tony, and his four grandchildren Kennedy, Lenoire, Kirin, and Zosia Lawing. In addition to his immediate family, Steve is also survived by numerous extended family. Steve's kindness and generosity nurtured countless friendships throughout his life. Steve's family welcomes those who would like to join in an informal celebration of his life on Monday, September 26th at 95A Bistro, Lafayette, between 4PM and 7PM.
