Russell Goad, age 73, and a resident of Copperas Cove, Texas, passed from this life on May 1, 2025, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born to the late Oland and Irma Lee Coffman Goad on Sept. 28, 1951, in Walnut Ridge. A graduate of Jonesboro High School, Russell then attended and graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi fraternity. An ROTC graduate, he was commissioned into the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of Captain. Russell retired as a government contractor for the United States Army.
Russell married Lori Lochotzki Cannon on June 28, 2006, in Las Vegas. He was of the Methodist faith. Russell was a member of the Copperas Cove Quarterback Club and volunteered in the Dawg concession stand for many years.
He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his wife and son, and watching sports, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks, and his great-nephews' and great-nieces' teams. Russell could always be counted on to be present for his family and friends, whether in person, via call or text, or a social media "like". He was a beloved husband, dad, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Oland and Irma Lee Goad. He is survived by wife, Lori, and son, Benjamin of Copperas Cove, Texas; sister, Rebecca (Steve) Jones of Imboden; nephew, Chris (Mikka) Jones of Imboden; niece, Stephanie (Les) McCormic of Pocahontas; great nephews, Rob and Will Mason; great niece, Lauren Jones; and many cousins and friends.
A graveside service will take place at Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge on May 22, 2025, at 10 a.m., with a military service to follow at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas, on May 28, 2025.
