Aaron Cuffee Obituary

Aaron J. Cuffee

June 30, 1976 - January 15, 2025

Aaron Jermaine Cuffee, beloved husband, son, brother and friend passed away peacefully following a brief illness on January 15, 2025, in San Diego California at the age of 48. Born on June 30, 1976, to Connie L. and Angelo C. Cuffee in Richmond, VA., he was raised in the Glen Allen community and graduated from Hermitage High School in1994. He excelled in football, basketball and track where his 4x1 relay team held a school record for numerous years. He graduated from Virginia State University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education. He taught school in Maryland, served the community with Chartered Health in Washington, D.C., and later taught in Henrico County and San Diego.

A lover of music, life, and his fantasy football team, he was a devoted husband and fierce competitor whose passion for football and the ability to make others feel valued left an unforgettable mark. Aaron most recently served as a Learning Facilitator at e3 High School in San Diego, CA where he made a huge impact on his students and community. Aaron was also a certified fitness trainer who truly lived and breathed health and wellness, dedicating his life to helping others achieve their best selves.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Evelyn and Harry Lewis, Sr. and Mary and

Constantine Cuffee; uncles Cecil Lewis, Sr., Harry Lewis, Jr., Odell Cuffee and Belvin Cuffee, Sr. and aunt, Catherine Cuffee.

Aaron is survived by his wife, Tisha Rae Cuffee, parents, Angelo and Connie Cuffee, siblings, Angelo (AC) Cuffee, and Crishawn C. Atkins (Twann). Also, lovingly remembered by his in-laws, Scott and Kelly Forbes and Jay Forbes; aunts, Julia Lewis, Patricia Pitts (Maurice), Carolyn Chambers (Booker), Delores Spence, Brenda Browder, and Trina Tripp (George); uncles, Russell Cuffee, Sr. and Wayne Cuffee (Jennifer); nieces, Kayla Brown, Tierra Cuffee, Anela Cuffee, Brielle Atkins, and Ariya Atkins; nephews, Angelo Wayne Cuffee, Jr., Henry Aaron Atkins IV, and Bryson Atkins, Godson Exum Ladejobi, loving cousins and extended family members. Close to his heart were his brothers he grew up with in the Laurel West and North Run communities, childhood friends who remain inseparable today. He was lovingly "Uncle Aaron" to the children of his closest friends.

Most recently, Aaron found peace and joy in the quiet moments at the beach or his favorite park, where he would hang out and savor the breathtaking sunsets, capturing their beauty with his camera. Much like the sunsets he admired, Aaron's life was a quiet reflection of calm strength and appreciation, leaving a lasting legacy of peace and purpose.

Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where viewing will be held Friday, January 31st, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., followed by the family receiving friends at Scott's Chapel from 6 to 7 p.m.

Mr. Cuffee and family,
I am one of your former teachers from Ratcliffe. I am the same age as your son...wow, how the Lord reminds us to number our days! Your son´s life was a wonderful gift to you and all who came in contact with him. My prayer is that God would surround you with His steadfast love. As you contemplate Aaron in the presence of the Lord may you be filled with His Shalom.

Cuffee you are going to be missed. I remember going into the rhythm studio and just talking about our scholars. You were such a good listener and provided good advice. You were funny and kind and we share being vegetarians and when admin brought food we always wondered what "we" were getting. You were kind and generous. We will see each other again and we will both be wearing track suits. You are missed!

I understand this is a huge shock to the heart, mind and soul. We don't always understand why, but we should never question the work of our Father (although times like this are difficult). Coach Cuffee not only was my advisor but helped scholars grow constantly in our Growth Mindset goals and made so many impacts to me and everyone else. He was chill, funny, sporty, kind, optimistic, best taste in music, and always a joy to be around. Also, he has made so many impacts to e3 by supporting every scholar who is down and needed someone to talk to just to check up on him. I've made super close bond to him and I was almost related to him. Now that I lost my favorite Learning Facilitator and best friend, I will miss going to the Hilton and the Shell with him to do football or soccer, and talking to him during advisory. He will truly be missed by the world and will always be known coolest Guy/LF any scholar or person can ever meet and a true icon to the e3 family. - R.I.P Cuffee
