Adam Nimaga Obituary

Adam Djibril Nimaga

August 21, 2002 - October 31, 2024

Adam passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024, in Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by his father, Djibril Nimaga. He is survived by his mother, Mary Catherine Nimaga; his sister, Miriam Nimaga; his grandmother, Mary Stagg; and his aunt, Lissie Stagg.

Adam was born in Richmond, VA, and had a gift for making friends. He was a handsome, smart, engaging man who brought an undeniable sense of joy to every situation and loved nothing more than bringing people together. He treated people with kindness and made them feel loved and important. He was a light.

Adam graduated from Collegiate School with Honors. He enjoyed his time with friends leading Model Congress, helping to take his Ethics Bowl team to the finals, working hard on the International Math Modeling Competition and running cross country and track. His true love, however, was time spent on the basketball court with friends. He was so excited to join Bon Air Basketball in elementary school and it was a good guess you'd find him on the court either with AAU Basketball's Team Richmond, Murrer22 or as Co-Captain of Collegiate's Varsity Basketball team. Whether shooting hoops in the driveway, or running out the door to join a last minute shoot-around, Adam's joy on the court was apparent.

Adam was a senior at Vanderbilt University and was deeply involved in the campus community. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, Phi Chi Theta business fraternity, Project Space and the Commodore Capital Group. He was Vice President of the Vanderbilt Club Basketball team and an active partner in Black Star Rentals. You could not walk across the campus with Adam and not be greeted with smiles from multitudes of people. He also enjoyed a summer at The London School of Economics, followed by a successful running of the bulls in Pamplona. He spent his spring semester of junior year studying in Barcelona and was fortunate enough to ski at Chamonix, as well as ride a camel in Morocco. Adam was pursuing a career in finance after several successful internships with investment firms.

A graveside service will be held for him on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11 a.m., in Forest Lawn Cemetery. A reception will follow at The Country Club of Virginia.

It is with heartfelt appreciation the family thanks those who contributed to Team Adam in Nashville. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to support financial aid at Collegiate School, 103 N. Mooreland Road, Richmond, VA 23229, or to Vanderbilt University Gift and Donor Services Office, Student Critical Support Fund, PMB 407727, 2301 Vanderbilt Place, Nashville, TN 37203-9700.
