Alice Andrews

Alice B. Andrews, 80, of Mechanicsville, Va., died peacefully in her home on May 11, 2025, after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.

Alice was born on February 18, 1945, to Samuel and Kathleen Burks of Richmond, Va.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Kathleen; brother, George; one grandson, Robert "Ty' Duke; and her husband, Kenneth Andrews.

Alice enjoyed traveling and cruising the seas. She was a member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with close friends of her Vota Vita Class. Alice was an avid reader and was a member of several book clubs. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, and painting. Alice loved her cooking shows, watching British TV, as well as spending time with her faithful service dog, Jingle Bell.

Alice was a loving mother, beloved grandmother, and a wonderful friend to many.

She is survived by her two sons, Paul Duke (Karen), and Greg Duke (Dana); five grandchildren, Samuel Duke of Mechanicsville, Matthew Duke of Missouri, Geoff Duke (Brandi) of Mechanicsville, Geena Duke of Mechanicsville, and Gregory Goodman of Michigan; cousin, Kathy Traylor of New Kent; five great-grandchildren, Maelyn and Luciana of Mechanicsville, Bennett and Declan of Missouri, and baby girl Duke of Mechanicsville.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee David Rd. Mechanicsville, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond.
