Allan Sordelett Obituary

SORDELETT, Allan and Susan, Allan Karnes Sordelett, 73, of Richmond, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. Born on January 18, 1947, in Hopewell, he was the son of the late James and Dorothy Sordelett and a proud Virginia Tech alumnus.

Allan was also preceded in death by his brother, James Sordelett Jr. Allan's wife and best friend, Susan Doeg Sordelett, passed away 25 days after his death. He is survived by his sister, Martha (John); his children, Damien (Amberlyn) and Kara; and numerous cousins and extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Ashland Church of God or the Alpha-1 Foundation. A service will be held at a later date.

Susan Beverly Doeg Sordelett, 73, of Richmond, passed away on October 17, 2020. She was born on April 21, 1947, in Hopewell. Susan was predeceased by her beloved husband, Allan Karnes Sordelett, by 25 days.

Susan was also predeceased by her parents, Beverly and Frederic Doeg. She is survived by her stepchildren, Kara Sordelett and Damien Sordelett (Amberlyn); her sister, Allison Doeg Saunders (Joseph); brother, William Doeg (Sallie); and her cousin and dear friend, Debbie Kanak. Also surviving are numerous relatives and extended family members.

Susan was an active member of the reunion committee for Hopewell High School and will be remembered for her love and devotion to her husband, Allan; her love for her family and friends; and her willingness to help anyone.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers and cards, donations be made to Ashland Church of God or a charity of your choice. Due to the pandemic, a celebration of her life will be held at a later time when it is safe to gather.
