Alvin Charles Young

Alvin Charles Young, age 78, of Hanover,Va., died November 26, 2004 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pat; a daughter, Ann and her husband, Glenn; and a son, Charles and his wife, Melissa. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jack, Patrick, Millie and Ruby; a step granddaughter, Emily; a sister, Carole Bates; and a sister-in-law, Joan Young. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Louise Young; a brother, Clifton Young Jr.; and a sister, Beverly Wickham. As a young man, he entered the Navy and served on a destroyer escort in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, he entered the printing industry and remained there until his retirement in 1995. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Memorial services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Hanover Courthouse on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Hanover or Ashcake Volunteer Rescue Squad. Faulkner Family Funeral Home & Crematory, Burgess, Va., will be handling the arrangements.
