HOUSTON, Andre E., 31, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Olney, Md., passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 peacefully at home in his sleep.

The beloved son of John Russell Houston IV and Angela Rena Houston, Andre was born on October 2, 1989 in Montclair, N.J. He attended Garrett College in McHenry, Md. and Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, W.Va. Andre was a budding artisan who specialized in wire wrapped jewelry.

Andre found a home in the Richmond art community and attained fulfillment in life through the use of his creativity. He would express himself through various mediums such as DJ'ing, drawing, glassblowing and primarily through his wire wrapped jewelry, which he sold in the Richmond area and at festivals across the country. In addition to his artistic gifts, Andre was an avid skateboarder who also loved attending festivals with his friends - who he considered to be like family. Andre touched many lives through his art, outgoingness and caring nature.

Andre is survived by his father, John R. Houston IV (Nikita Hopkins); mother, Angela R. Houston; and stepmother, Wendolyn W. Houston; his brothers, John R. Houston V and Christopher W. Houston; sister, Alexis N. Houston; grandmothers, Bellma Houston and Bertha Jenkins. Andre is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, a host of other relatives and a network of friends that span across the country.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Woody Funeral Home - Parham in Richmond. A viewing will take place on Friday, July 16, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. and a Celebration of Life service will be held in honor of Andre on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 3 p.m. – both at the funeral home.
