Ann Staples Obituary
Ann "Annie" Bowles Staples, AKA The Pearl of Mineral, 77, of Henrico passed away peacefully November 15, 2024. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Hamilton Bowles and Mary Lucille Bowles; and her sister, Nancy Lee Haddon. A gift to her family, and friends, she is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert R. Staples; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew R. and Lindsey M. Staples; grandchildren, Riley Davis Staples and Blair Sutton Staples; niece and nephews and her many friends.
She was graduated with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Longwood College, class of '69. Annie was an active member of Alpha Sigma Tau, Torchbearer of CHI; and Cahoots. She received her Masters in Education from VCU.
Annie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hermitage Country Club; the Candlewood Crew, Collegiate Sisters.
Annie was a dedicated classroom teacher for 43 years in Henrico and at Collegiate, loving each student and their parents. Annie Retired from teaching 3rd grade at Collegiate after 16 years. She was known for her mentoring, attention to details as the ultimate planner, colored felt tip pens, to do lists, mischievous humor with hilarious quips.
Ann was optimistic, hopeful, enjoyed laughter, a renowned story teller (chat meister) and prankster. She was excited by Spider sports, marching bands, parades, hosting holiday gatherings, especially New Year's Day and the bright lights of town.
A Celebration of Annie's life will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, December 5th, at Trinity United Methodist Church on Forest Ave. with a reception to follow.
Bob, Andrew and family would like to thank the loving and dedicated teams on Lavender Lane and Morning Glory of Cedarfield for their sweet care of their "Anniekins", "Annie Bananie" and "My Annie" since May 2022.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Collegiate School directed towards Faculty support, the U of R Spider Athletic Fund or Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Ave., Henrico, 23229 payable to The Trinity Foundation.

Bob & family, Ann was a great classmate, always smiling, always energetic and always optimistic. We had many classes together from 8th grade till graduation from dear old LCHS. May God give you comfort in this time of loss. Our thoughts and prayers, Tommy & Gloria Nelson and family.
