Anne Chandler Obituary

CHANDLER, Dr. Anne, 76, of Richmond, VA., passed away on December 1, 2023. Anne is preceded in death by her parents Louise and Roland Chandler and her sister Betty Burk. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Moore; her children, Chandler Moore, Scott Moore and Elisabeth Frye; grandchildren, Oriana, Felix and Finn; and siblings, John and Charles Chandler. After earning her Ph.D. at Michigan State, where she met John, Anne spent a long and successful career at VCU, as a professor of rehabilitation counseling as well as in the Honors College. She had a profound impact on the lives and careers of countless students there and capped her career by endowing a scholarship for the rehab counseling school. At home, Anne was a caring mother who was greatly involved in her children's education. She loved travel, birdwatching and overcooked scrambled eggs.

A memorial service for Anne will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 8, at Bliley's- Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road.

Dr. Chandler was my professor at VCU back in the 1980s. She was an inspiring and supportive instructor that I gathered so much knowledge from. I fondly remember the semester that Chandler attended classes, swaddled in his baby blanket. Her memory will always live on at VCU.
