Anne Geiger

GEIGER, Anne, 84, passed away October 14, 2022 peacefully at home. Her final hours were filled with laughter and play as she spent time with her caregiver, friend, and "soul sister", Latral. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn; grandchildren, Story and Rico; son-in-law, Michael; and cats, Annie, Smudge, and Mr. Noodle.

An Education Specialist, Anne taught middle school for 26 years, starting with English, switching to Algebra, and ending with Theater for the last ten years before retiring. She was incredibly smart, very creative, fiercely independent, and had a whimsical sense of humor that often bordered on wicked. She was a fierce champion for animals (especially cats) and students with special needs. After retiring, her treat vacation to herself was spending three weeks in mainland China--she had always been fascinated with the country's art and culture.

After her son died at 44, Anne moved to Chesterfield to be close to her remaining family. There she transformed her new-to-her backyard into her "sanctuary" filled with plants, trees, flowers, and bird feeders. When not working in the yard, she sewed and embroidered aprons, towels, oven mitts, totes, and wall hangings. She was fascinated by History, especially WWII, and was an avid reader of American and British Murder Mysteries written by women (shout out to DS Barbara Havers and her red high tops). A badass to the end, Anne shares a death date with Robbie Coltrane, Harry Potter's "Hagrid", and will be buried in Honey Creek Natural Burial Ground next to her son.
