Barbara Mountcastle Holmes, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, in Midlothian, Virginia. She was 79. A devoted resident of Midlothian, she found joy in her family, books, and the beauty of the natural world, especially her garden, where she spent countless hours. Barbara was a long-time member and past president of the Midlothian Garden Club, where she not only shared her deep knowledge and love of horticulture but also cultivated lasting friendships and inspired others with her dedication and creativity. A service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church in Midlothian, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Midlothian Garden Club or that a flower, shrub, or tree be planted in Barbara's memory, an enduring tribute to a woman who found beauty in every season.

Roy and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Barbara was a wonderful, sweet lady. My yard is full of plants that she shared with me. I will always think of her when the plants bloom.

Barbara was my first supervisor at Liberty Mutual. She was a wonderful and fair boss. We became friends and I loved her.
She made the best fried chicken ever. When we had get togethers and everyone brought a dish to share, Barbara never had a choice of what to bring. In unison we all said " Barbara will bring chicken".
May God help the family with their grief
