Barbara Williams Howell

1930 - 2023

HOWELL, Barbara Williams, 92, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away after a long illness on January 23, 2023. Born February 1, 1930 in Richmond, Virginia, Barbara was a housewife and mother. She and her husband, William, who worked for Phillip Morris, now Altria, moved to Venezuela from 1956 to 1967, before returning to the states in 1967 with their two sons, Dean and Spencer. The family lived in Greenwich, Connecticut before Phillip Morris sent them to Miami, Florida in 1971 and then transferred the family again in 1972 to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There, William became president of Miller Beer. The family lived in Milwaukee for 17 years. Through all the family's moves, Barbara kept her wit and natural spark. She always managed to maintain a strong, stable environment for her family. When William retired in 1988, he and Barbara spent their later years in Vero Beach, Florida and Richmond, Virginia.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Howell. She is survived by her two sons, Dean and Spencer Howell; grandchildren, Danielle and George Howell; nephew, Brian Smith; and nieces, Laura Matura and Allison Smith Rowe.

A funeral service will be held at Bliley's Funeral Home, at 3801 Augusta Avenue, Richmond, Virginia 23230, on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery.
