Barbara B. Pendleton

PENDLETON, Barbara B., 95, of Annandale, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 29, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John L. Pendleton; and is survived by three sons, William J. Pendleton and his wife, Susan, of Suffolk, Va., Lee W. Pendleton of Annandale, Va. and Todd E. Pendleton and his wife, Kelly, of Mechanicsville, Va.; seven grandchildren, Shelby Webster and her husband, Sam, Breann Pendleton, James Pendleton, Carlie Pendleton and their spouse, Dale, Myles Fairlo and his wife, Jenna, Chad Prince and his wife, Melissa and Isaac Prince and his partner, Qianni; three great-grandchildren, Eli, Maddox and Rowan; nieces, Janis Vincent, Delia Skye and Laura Vincent Taylor; and nephews, Adam Vincent and Andrew Vincent. Barbara Blatcher Pendleton touched the lives of everyone who knew her. A lover of houndstooth, handkerchiefs and Kendall Jackson chardonnay with one ice cube, she brought new meaning to the words elegant and kind. Obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from George Mason University in 1985 after raising three sons, Barbara held a special love for British history, Princess Diana in particular. And like Diana, Barbara exuded an effortless confidence that brought warmth and comfort to her friends and family. Her work as an usher at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., allowed her to satiate her voracious appetite for theater and musicals, her favorites being The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. Barbara also gained a lifelong dislike of David Letterman during her time as an usher, after he ignored her request to stop smoking a cigar in an elevator. Her family continues this dislike in her honor. While we will miss her dearly, we take comfort in our memories and knowing that Barbara has been reunited with her one true love, her husband, Jack.
