July 13, 1951 - May 11, 2025

JONES, Bernard "Benny" 73 of Mechanicsville, Va, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Joyce Jones, and his wives, Kathryn Little Jones and Carol Ann Crew Jones. He is survived by his sons, Joshua Jones (Angela) and Dylan Jones (Emily); stepchildren, Vanessa Best and Courtney Strickland (Josh); his grandchildren, Mackenzie and Hollee Jones; and step-grandchildren, Campbell Best, Brayden and McKenna Strickland; a sister, Sandra Kerr (Bruce); nieces, Cynthia Kerr and F. Leah Chandler (Matt); great-nieces, Kerri and Breanna Chandler; a great-nephew, Steven Chandler; and many other neighbors, relatives and friends.

Benny was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and Virginia Tech. He was a dedicated employee of Richfood and later of Retail Data. He was an avid Hokie fan. Benny was very independent and took pride in maintaining his home and his yard. He was a loving and devoted father, brother, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending sporting events and concerts.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 18100 Genito Rd., Moseley, VA 23120, where a funeral service will be held at 2 pm. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Virginia Tech Alumni Association or the American Cancer Society.

Thinking of you at this sad time. Many years ago, Benny and I were very good friends at Albert Hill and TJ. I have lots of good memories of our growing up together. He was a very special person and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Sincerely, Phyllis Jones Asbeil
