Bess Tarasidis Obituary

Bess Matzganis Tarasidis, 69, of Radford, passed away Monday, November 4, 2002. She was born in Richmond on August 14, 1933 to the late George and Anna Matzganis. A homemaker and mother, she has lived in Radford for thirty-five years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Roanoke. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Dr. George Tarasidis of Radford; four sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Nicholas and Maria Tarasidis of Richmond, Dr. Charles and Michelle Tarasidis of Radford, Dr. Gregory and Jamie Tarasidis of Greenwood, S.C., and Dr. Kirk and Kiki Tarasidis of Greensboro, N.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Vera and Scott Gerard of Richmond; 13 grandchildren, George, Stratos, and Peter Tarasidis of Richmond, Alexandra, Andrew, and Christina Tarasidis of Radford, Anna and John Tarasidis of Greenwood, S.C., Georgios and Nikos Tarasidis of Greensboro, N.C., Matthew, Paul, and John Gerard of Richmond; one sister, Mrs. Helen Georges of Chattanooga, Tenn. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2002 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Roanoke with Father Nicholas Bacalis officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 5055 or 30 Huntington Blvd. NE, Roanoke, Va. 24012. The family will receive friends and have a brief service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
