Boyd Franklin Collier, Sr.

Boyd Franklin Collier, Sr., 86, of Richmond, Va., passed away on July 3, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edwin Collier Sr. and his mother, Dorothy Sharp Collier.

Boyd is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Lorenzo Collier; his sons, Boyd Franklin Collier Jr. (and his wife Heidi), and Cameron Garrett Collier (and his wife Terri); three grandchildren, Noah Boyd Collier (and his wife Faith), Hannah Margaret Collier, and Joshua Graham Collier; his brother, Charles Edwin Collier Jr. (and his wife Patricia); and his sister, Ellen Sue Collier Green (and her husband Buddy).

Boyd received his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University, and a law degree from the University of Richmond. He worked for many years at the law firm of Allen & Allen before spending his last 10 years practicing law with his son Boyd Jr. at the Law Office of Collier & Collier.

While practicing law, he also served for over 40 years as a substitute judge in Virginia's General District Court system, sitting on the bench in many different courts across the state. He served on the Virginia State Bar Council (the governing body for lawyers in the state) for many years. He was a very active member for a long time in the West Richmond Rotary Club. He served for many years on the Alumni Council at Wake Forest University.

He enjoyed spending time at his house on Gwynn's Island in Mathews County, boating and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, and cheering for the Wake Forest football and basketball teams.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Bliley's – Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond, Va. 23230.
