Carolyn Bradley Harper

1939 - 2022

HARPER, Carolyn Bradley, 83, went home to be with the Lord on December 23, 2022. Carolyn was born in Nelson County, Va. to Herman and Evelyn Bradley, the third of five children. She was raised in King and Queen County and then moved to Richmond, Va. after a year at Montreat College, N.C. She worked in Richmond at Thalhimer's as Mr. Thalhimer's executive secretary for many years. She married her high school sweetheart in 1962 and moved to Mechanicsville, Va. in 1971. She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Robert; one son, Bobby and his wife, Stephanie Harper; and four grandchildren, Will, Caroline, Anna, and Joshua. Known to her grandchildren as Grandma and Sugar, they are the apple of her eye. She is also survived by her two brothers and their wives, Donald Bradley (Frances), Gary Bradley (Pam); her brother-in-law, Richard Harper (Sherry); as well as many nephews, nieces, and friends. Carolyn was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She loved all things pertaining to flowers, vegetables, and gardening. Carolyn loved her church family at Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Mechanicsville. All those who knew her will miss her here, but praise God she is in His presence. A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home in Mechanicsville. The funeral service will be presided over by Reverend Fred Skaggs and will be held at the Mattoponi Baptist Church in King & Queen Courthouse at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022.
